Formerly called the Adopt-A-Book Literacy Program, Next Chapter provides young children between the ages 0-5 with free new books to encourage creativity while promoting mental, emotional, and psychological development.

We distribute books year-around at public community events in the South & South East Los Angeles area OR partner with local cities to help distribute the books to the community. This program was established to address Word Gap which adversely affects communities of color.

Through our next chapter program we have donated over 2,000 new books since 2019.

This program is supported in part by the Smart and Final Foundation and LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn.

PathofPages

In 2023, we are launching a new project called Path of Pages through our Next Chapter Program with an inaugural book at the historic Lynwood Park.

The Path of Pages initiative is focused on creating and sharing stories related to our immediate community’s history, to engage families while they explore the local natural environment through storytelling and illustration, effectively curating parks with beautiful prints from these stories creating visual art galleries in nature.

Inspiration will be sparked by YOU, our community! Stories and photos will be collected via an anonymous online survey, Instagram using #LynwoodTales - be sure to follow us at @BuddingArtistsLA, and in-person at upcoming community events. We can't wait to hear your story!
