SELA Arts Festival

SELA Arts Festival

Summer 2020 - The SELA Arts Festival (selaartsfest.org) focuses on showcasing the best of the South East Los Angeles community, featuring artists, musicians, local artisans, and much more. This special event pivoted to an online platform due to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing a virtual space for Southeast Los Angeles communities to unite and celebrate the power of art and creativity. Our team was part of the planning committee and produced several art activity videos for children to create and explore at home. Budding Artists also collaborated with acclaimed French visual artist, Hervé Tullet! Check out the video below to explore Monster Game:

Silent Auction

Launched Summer 2019 - The Silent Auction is an in-person/online event bringing unique artisan items in one space. All funds raised from the event supports our premier Summer Exploration Program, providing 30 children with six-weeks of free process-based art classes and art materials.

MakerSpace

MAKERSPACESIGN.jpg

Launched Summer 2022 - Over the past 10 years there have been three times as many new jobs created in STEM related fields than in other fields. But with only 8% of the national tech workforce identifying as African-American and Latinx, it is important to encourage our traditionally under-represented students to pursue STEM. Women especially need to be equipped for the economy of the future, including the skills, education, and experience that can be applied to 21st century careers. Our Maker Space project addresses exposing non-dominant populations to STEM and using technology to interact and engage with the world around them.

Public Arts Initiative

Launched Winter 2019 - Our Public Arts Initiative focuses on donating artwork created by our young artists to local hospitals and public community spaces.  Art can transform the blank walls of clinical environments or public spaces into compassionate care areas filled with imagination, inspiration, and hope. Budding Artists has donated artwork to Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center for their new pediatric medical home in Downey and the City of Lynwood Parks and Community Services Department.
